Recently I decided that he needed a refresher of sorts, and so I searched out some pink spray paint.

It took a little searching, Pink spray paint is not a huge seller apparently, but I found one called Berry Pink that I think works.

I taped off the eyes and beak, plopped it’s stake in the ground and started spraying the little guy until he was all pink.  Then it was just a matter af waiting the 20 minutes for him to dry before turning him upside-down to fill in the bare spots on his belly and neck.

Another 20 minutes and I peeled off the tape and admired the beauty in all his pinkness. *hahaha*

It rained on him not long after I put him in the flower pot, so he’s dappled with rain drops.

Due to a snafu in the order instructions the delivery didn’t come Monday morning like it was supposed to. But that turned out to be a good thing, because we had accidentally given the wrong item number for one of the items to be delivered *whoops*. We were lucky in that respect. We fixed the error and got the order set to be delivered Tuesday morning instead.

We started assembling the set up not long after getting the bits inside the work shop.

It’s a pretty large unit, 70″h x 64″w x 19″d, so we had to assemble it inside the rec room. There is no way we could get it through the hallway fully assembled. *haha*

Here’s the photo of when we first started working on it.  We had gotten the top, bottom, sides and back wood glued and screwed on and had just put in the guinea pig area and cocoa banana’s area in at this point.

Once their area’s were in we stood the unit up, added the spacer for Sage and Rosebugs halves down below, and then I started to run gorilla wood glue along all of the seams to help seal them. That was messy and time consuming. Ugh.

 I got it all sealed up, and then we started on the Lops alternating shelves and the shelve edges to keep messes inside. While we were at it we put in a viewing hole in the middle of the divider wall so that the Lops still could see each other like they could in their old cage.

Another round of wood glue on the seams later and we were ready to move it into place and see how it fit in the space. It was mega heavy, so we levered it into the space slowly and with care. It fit in the space really well, so we did something right I guess *haha* I need to re-paint the wall where the old shelving unit had been, but other wise the area looking good.

We decided that they needed intermediate shelves as well, so we snagged some scrap plywood and installed four of them, two for each. And then more wood glue seam sealing for the shelves.

I totally missed photographing the next stage, which was painting on five coats of polyurethane to super seal and water proof their home so that we don’t have stinky icky yucky. But I spent two days with the windows open, and a plastic sheet up to keep in the smell, as I painted on coat after coat of the poly until it was all shiny and water proofed.  Aaron decided he wanted us to add vinyl tile to their floors as well, so we got some and installed it to all of the floors in the cage, and then I put two more coats of  poly to seal those in. *lol*.

Once that all cured and was not stinky anymore we started working on how we wanted to do the front. I was lost on how we should do this stage so Aaron took over and installed the front bits. We did the Guinea’s area and then Cocoa Banana’s.  Right after that we moved them in to their respective area’s so that we could rob metal squares from their old cages in order to build Sage and Rosebug’s cage front panels. *haha* We attached a metal panel over the center hole we made to keep them on their own sides, and Aaron added foam to the mini shelves.

Again I missed taking a few photo’s before this final stage. This last photo basically is the finished product, with critters all moved in and settling in nicely. Aaron wanted Cocoa Banan to have a hiding spot, since he was more secluded when he lived upstairs, so he added some black plastic over one of the doors to his part of the cage. Cocoa banana seems to like that little piece of privacy. All the critters seem to approve of their new layout, so I guess we did good for our fur babies. =)

Since it was a smaller mount unit we found out that it had to be off to the side a bit to be mounted correctly to the studs. No biggy though.

After the tv was up, and I was confident it wasn’t going to leap off the wall at me, I decided to make a shelf unit under it for all the rec room gadgetry. It’s nothing fancy, but it’ll get the job done. =)

Sufficed to say it was reasonable enough that hubby dear hired them and the panel was put in to the workshop. =) He was, and still is, super excited about it. Not a bad 6 year anniversary present for the man that has almost everything wouldn’t you say.

I work on one, or the other, each day for a little while at a time, usually after eating lunch or dinner. =) Later on I plan on tackling some things that are a bit more complex or detailed, but for now it’s good practice. =D

I was running out of the multi colored yarn, and the store was out at the time, so I started a beige border on it. I snagged a multi-color not long after so I’ve switched back. I’m thinking of doing multi-colored, and then a band of beige and a band of multi color to finish.

I’m alternating the pink and the purple strips as I go with this one. I think it looks pretty so far. =)

I still have some tidying left to do, but all in all the space is set up for now.

Again, I didn’t get a chance to snap pictures until right at the end, so here you go.. Aaron’s office space with brand new flooring down..

Such a lovely floor now. Looks so much better than the old red tiles and cement it was before. Yes?

It was pretty easy to snap together and even the cuts were so easy to do. We zipped through the flooring in the Rec room.

As you can see, the bunny condo had to be moved to the side, and then moved again to the finished part once the trim was pounded in.

After we made it out to the hallway we stopped for a few to put the rest of the trim along the rec room walls and flooring, completing the room. *squee*

We built a small raised area at the other end of the room as well. As you can see in the pictures =)

After getting the sub floor down on one part of the room we started working on the raised area of the room.

First we measured and cut the 2×4′s we would need, and then we pieced them together and added bracers through out.

Once the bits were all in place we attatched them together, using both screws and gorilla glue, then we anchored it all to the wall.

Once we were happy with the layout we threw in some insulation for noise buffer and started working on the plywood.

And there you go, one raised area in the rec room! *hahaha* 

Because we were putting down vinyl tile there, instead of laminate flooring, we painted on a layer of the primer made for increasing adhesion.

And then the vinyl tiles started getting applied..

We opted or black and brown. Aaron snuck in four white tiles, so we put them in the center for a pretty eye catching look.

Once the tile bits were all down we put the trim along the walls to hide the seams, and a flooring strip along the front before going back to putting in the sub-flooring.

We had to do this room in stages, as we built the rabbit condo in the room earlier on, and it was too big to move out unless we took it apart (not happening).

First we worked on one part of the room…
